The Girl
I met a girl one day
Who changed my life.
The funny part about it,
Is that she probably doesn’t even know.
let me explain
This person showed me a life
That I never knew existed.
How to chase after what I wanted,
Play the music I like at a ridiculous volume,
Light candles because they smell nice,
To giggle like a kid because I was full of joy,
She showed me how to be free.
Now it’s hard to see my old life as liveable.
I can’t keep the curtains closed on a sunny day,
Or close myself off for things like school or work.
Yes, I need to make a living
My realist parents made sure I knew that.
But I’m craving those days where there isn’t the burden
Of rent or tuition or goddamn mental healthcare.
I want to want to live,
Because of you.
Who changed my life.
