There is a poet
I know who writes
to garner attention
from any babes
who swing by
their way

there is a poet
I know who writes
because they are
clawing on to life
one day at a time,

there is a poet
I know who writes
because they can't
be at peace until
every last word
has been written

there is a poet
I know who writes
because they don't
understand who
they truly are,

there is a poet
I know who writes
because they know
life has a way of
gutting you every
minute at a time

there is a poet
I know who writes
because they are
always on the road,

there is a poet
I know who writes
because that's all
they have known
like oxygen

each word
gives us life

but giving
words mean
standing in
your own
exhibition

naked to
the bones,

simply do
or don't.
