In My Nightmare Your Dream Came True
I had a dream I was laying in a bed of roses
In a field by the town with a pocket full of posies
You were climbing up to the top of the bell tower
You said you wanted a view that would be higher
I saw you up on the belfry through a window
Sweet smell of spring, and the wind brushed the leaves of the willow
You called to me and waved before you jumped
And as you fell in slow-mo my heart sort of stopped
In my nightmare she died
In my nightmare I cried
In my nightmare the roses become redder
That’s my nightmare but I’ll never tell her
Gravity didn’t spare you, and your wings did not extend
Bones break so easily but are much harder to mend
I ran over to the horror show that is blood and bones
Torn by the flowers and broken up by the stones
In my nightmare your dreams came true
In my nightmare I didn’t know what to do
In my nightmare I just stood there as they took you away
In my nightmare I didn’t know how to act or what to say
I woke up, but I felt the nightmare hadn’t gone
Because no matter how beautiful the day or how meaningful the song
It still happened to you
With the nagging thought that I couldn’t stop it if it did
I lay there with tears rolling down my cheeks
I wanted to throw up, I stayed sick for weeks
Uncertain as though my nightmare came true
I won’t lie, I was so afraid, so afraid that you,
Might have actually left me in the field alone
I was so afraid, even when I got you on the phone
In a field by the town with a pocket full of posies
You were climbing up to the top of the bell tower
You said you wanted a view that would be higher
I saw you up on the belfry through a window
Sweet smell of spring, and the wind brushed the leaves of the willow
You called to me and waved before you jumped
And as you fell in slow-mo my heart sort of stopped
In my nightmare she died
In my nightmare I cried
In my nightmare the roses become redder
That’s my nightmare but I’ll never tell her

Torn by the flowers and broken up by the stones
In my nightmare your dreams came true
In my nightmare I didn’t know what to do
In my nightmare I just stood there as they took you away
In my nightmare I didn’t know how to act or what to say
