The Calm Before

The wind it wails a banshee's shriek
Torrent waves thrash the boat, so bleak
Balance is a dream, unattainable yet
As the ship tosses in its perilous net

Darkness descends, a shroud of dread
Echoing moans, the dying sea's bed
A phantom hand upon the helm
Steering the vessel to a watery realm

The storm rages on, with tempestuous glee
Tearing the sails with savage debris
A dance of death, on the raging sea
The ship, a pawn, in a demonic spree

The wind it howls an evil tune
As the ship rocks, beneath the moon
Sleep won't come to the restless mind
Haunted by thoughts of a darker kind

The captain's eyes, with a piercing glare
Sends a chill through the salty air
Food scarce and rotten, a daily plight
Tormented by hunger day and night

A mind on edge in a world so bleak
Despair sets in, with each passing week
The crew's harsh words, like a vicious sting
Pushing the mind to an unstable thing

Madness takes hold, a seeping thought
As I contemplate a plan so fraught
To kill the captain, in his sleep so deep
And plunge the ship into a watery keep

The line between sanity and madness fades
As the stormy sea, becomes the mind's charade
A ship lost at sea, with an unhinged crew
A tale of madness on a journey askew
