Love's Flame: A Meditation on Death and Romance

In the shadows of my thoughts,
I find myself drawn to the inevitable end,
The final curtain call that awaits us all,
But amidst the darkness, I have a friend.

For death can be a romantic notion,
A lover's embrace that awaits us all,
A chance to reunite with those we've lost,
And answer the final, mysterious call.

Oh, death, you are the great equalizer,
The one certainty in this uncertain world,
And in your embrace, we find release,
From the pain and suffering life has hurled.

But even in the face of your sweet release,
I find myself holding on, hesitant to let go,
For the love I share burns bright and strong,
And I fear leaving my beloved alone below.

So, death, let me linger here a while longer,
Let me bask in the warmth of love's sweet glow,
For though your embrace may be inviting,
I'm not yet ready to let love's flame go.

And when the time comes for me to depart,
Let it be with the knowledge that I was blessed,
To have known love in all its wonder,
And to have felt its touch upon my chest.

For even in the face of your sweet release,
Love endures, a flame that cannot be quenched,
And in the end, it is the love we share,
That transcends death and all that it has wrenched
