Forgotten Love

Once upon a time, we had it all,
Love so deep, it stood so tall,
Promises made with hearts so pure,
Forevermore, we would endure.
 
But time flew by, and things went wrong,
We forgot the love that once was strong,
Neglecting each other, taking love for granted,
The passion died, and we left it stranded.
 
We thought love was enough to sustain,
Never realizing that effort we must maintain,
We let it slip away, like sand from our grasp,
Leaving only memories of a love that didn't last.
 
Now we stand here, with tears in our eyes,
Wondering where we went wrong, asking why,
The love that once bloomed is now forgotten,
Leaving our hearts empty, broken, and barren.
 
We wish we could go back to the start,
Fix what was broken, mend our hearts,
But time only moves forward, never to rewind,
Leaving us with the pain of love left behind.
 
Forgotten love, a bitter pill to swallow,
A pain that lingers, a wound that won't follow,
But we must move on, learn from our past,
And hope to find love that will forever last.
