Your words touch me deeply as my mom is losing huge portions of her memory.
She's not stuck in a happy place either.

I'm sorry to hear that, it's hard in any sense. I'm thankful every day, even through the gaps and once in a while I'll remember another piece or two. Even if I don't ever get them back completely, I have my children.
They tell me stories about all the ridiculous things I did & how brave I was. Those are what I hold close these days, they remember for all of us.

You are one of her favorite memories, I guarantee it.Thank you so much for sharing

Poignant beyond measure. The raw emotion and pain of having something so illy taken is rendered in this poem beautifully. A difficult subject on which to comment but poetically an outstanding statement amazingly written. H🌷

I'm sure it's a challenge to comment on such things, I mean what do you say? And some days I have trouble commenting anyway, words are funny that way.
I just love the thought you put into yours and sincerely appreciate each one, so thank you!

I have lost a great deal of faith in humanity in the last several years.

I think we all have at least once in our lives and sometimes it changes us, but of all the terrible things I've been through, I truly believe there are good people out there, they're usually the ones you least expect them to be.
I guess all we can really do is be the kind of person we wish humanity could be

This is a scary, delicate subject for anybody to write about or comment on but I applaud your bravery and your poem. Actually, what's described in your write is exactly one of the things I fear the most. I wouldn't have had the courage to delve into that, so kudos to you for the courage you had to treat this subject so beautifully. Thanks for sharing!

It is a delicate subject for sure and I think we tend to keep things like this to ourselves after going through them. Maybe it's something we need to talk about more often......

Many times due to some internal wounds our routine life starts changing, we start forgetting things. Even a small thing is not remembered, but if we get someone's soft feelings and care, then we become safe and recovers. you wrote very well.

So very true, comfort and safety become priority after such things.

The trials of motherhood, this made me think back to those moments that are long gone but live strong within my mind.  Some of them are pleasant and some of them are lamentable, but they are mine and I cherish them in joy or to help me grow into a better person.
