eleMENTAL conFINEMENT
"After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave." 1 Kings 19:11-13 (NIV)
1
first i prayed for the wind
that the wind might bear me away
far away from the grind
of the night that hastens the day
2
then for water i prayed
that the floods might drown all my cares
but the water betrayed
all my dreams with morbid affairs
3
so i prayed for the earth
that the earth her mouth open wide
and relieve me with mirth
in a safer place to abide
4
then i prayed for the fire
that the flames consume all my pride
but its burning desire
was for its own haven to hide
5
raise the clouds, lofty wind
to create new rains in the stars
that the parched earth may find
in its quenching kindling for fires
6
now i pray for a song
that the song may find me at peace
for for too long i long
that the pain of living might cease
