In a sense

There are two senses to my life
And when I act consciously
When I am in the moment
And choose rather than be chosen by my fears
Then both are fulfilled

For in a sense everything I do is for you
And in another sense everything I do is for me

For when I truly take care of myself
Then I create the energy I need to take care of you
And with every concrete act that helps another
I bring joy to my own heart

For this is true, above all:
We want to be happy and help others be happy

Everything that deviates from this brings sorrow
We betray ourselves out of ignorance, fear and greed
For when we hurt another we hurt ourselves

Maybe the modern world would have you believe otherwise
But false prophets have always lied

We are not made to lie and cheat
We are made to bring peace and happiness
Don't believe the voices who would tell you otherwise
You are not less than a bright star
And you can choose to shine
When you believe this is your nature

They would have you believe
that you are incomplete without the things they advertise
But completeness is only found within

You are born to be joyful and bring joy
For everything you do for yourself you do for me
And everything you do for me you do for yourself

This is the truth I long to embrace
I want it to be my guiding light

Oh what could we be
If this would be the light of the whole world?
