The Boy from the Moon
[inspired by the song, "Cats in the Cradle" by Harry and Susan Chapin]
Cats and cradles
a silver spoon,
a disappointment
to the boy on the moon.
A baby born
it's an exciting May,
but must work right now
many a bill to pay.
Growing up
and wanting to play,
can't right now
but we will, someday.
Please, come and sit
I've something to say,
sorry, my son,
no time for delay.
Time has passed
and he's gone away,
wish he'd come home
for a while to stay.
But his busy life
gets in our way,
so I sit in the dark
to sob and pray...
Cats and cradles
a silver spoon,
a big disappointment
to the boy from the moon.
