Biblical Winter
Winter stuff
-
iii.
And when the Moon
eats herself in Nazareth
and leaves the sky with one
and only one bright star
we will walk the way of Romans.
Gregory will go rewriting
all of pagan truth
in white, the Saxon beat
losing heat for God,
sins upon the torches,
psalms upon our palms,
we will walk toward one,
just one and holy light
who touches every tree,
anoints our fresh Bethlehem
and when the book
has become The Book
we will know our fortune
not in the earth beneath our feet
not in the skin beneath our hands
but in Heaven
or maybe Hell -
the acoustics of a leader
blessing us with fresh song,
bells and bells on ringing
into our little towns.
