End of Days
away
just praying for a day away
where I don't regret a thing
one wish upon a star
one bliss to be
alone from all and everything
how great it would feel
to see peaceful oblivion
say farewell to fairweather friends
guess it's really for the best
humanity can be so selfish
and I could careless
a day staring up at the great beyond
no worries at all
because nobody's here to judge
just me and the one I love
she'll be with me in the end of days
document the last moments
oh my God
wherefore art my God?
save me from these painful thoughts
don't think there's hope for any of us
maybe that's the master plan
drive the old mad as the young rot
the hands of faith are suffocating
around the neck of the unthinking
they're squeezing tighter
waiting for life to fad into obedience
can't stop it
can't control it
so I just watch in disbelief
