Karma Stings
You took my heart
Ran it like a straight
All a game to you
I found out too late
I rebuked family and friends
What they called you wasn't right
But I was the fool
With my head hung out of sight
Using my connections
Playing games with the truth
Was I oh so naive
Even with overwhelming proof?
The funds I set aside
For a future with dreams
Like the Persian Empire
Not enough for a hill of beans
I was thinking about the late nights
Not even a massage could be found
Never entered my head
That you were painting the town
Ah but I savored the word
That you were sad and blue
For that scoundrel you were with
Was in fact playing you!
Ran it like a straight
All a game to you
I found out too late
I rebuked family and friends
What they called you wasn't right
But I was the fool
With my head hung out of sight
Using my connections
Playing games with the truth
Was I oh so naive
Even with overwhelming proof?
The funds I set aside
For a future with dreams
Like the Persian Empire
Not enough for a hill of beans
I was thinking about the late nights
Not even a massage could be found
Never entered my head
That you were painting the town
Ah but I savored the word
That you were sad and blue
For that scoundrel you were with
Was in fact playing you!
