Absolution
Was absolution easy
when lord Jesus walked the earth?
Both yes and no
is true.
The Gospels say
he saw it was obtainable
but at a princely price.
And that was only if
you’d first forgive
the trespasses with which
your enemies
dishonored you:
for Man
who joys in gaining recompense
for all perceived injustices
that have been done
to him,
finds this
one of the hardest things
to ever do.
Matthew 6:14-15
14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Yes, but the true enemies are those who reside within the Id, the psyche. And those come from cultures which systematically mutilate the divine child and are intrinsically crazy-making.

BTW, I think you need to consider that in Matt. 6:15 "those who have sinned against you" is a reference to persons, not psychological states, and to look up what the phrase "those who have sinned against us" (are indebted to us) meant in first century Judaism, namely, a species of wicked Gentile or another enemy of Jerusalem. (on this, see Bruce D. Chilton " Jesus and the Repentance of E. P. Sanders", Tyndale Bulletin 39 (1988) 1-18.).

I’ve read the citation any of a number of times in the Koine and must confess I’m not bound whatsoever by an originalist paradigm. What those of the first century thought is of corse interesting but not binding. I think Jesus was far more the poet than given credit.
First century thinking, especially in a slave culture, is desirable initially for the liberation theology found in the Isaiah 61:1, if memory serves. The current existential crisis is in large part fueled by a tendency to handcuff and straitjacket the scriptures.
Let J-Z go. You decide your own hermeneutics re poetry. It’s a mighty big tent from where I sit, so chill and keep writing. Scholars disagree all the time which I find intellectually and theologically refreshing.
