Crickets call and meteors streak
To punctuate the midnight sky
And I can hear the breezes speak
Of phantoms that I cannot spy.
Sometimes puzzling, sometimes not,
Go the shifting shadows abstruse,
But glory will augment all my thought
When the graceful muse begins to seduce!
It is she who rules the night
And all the bouncing's of my brain;
Sometimes the collisions are slight
Some, too difficult to explain,
But all the best thoughts she will make
Are disclosed to welcome the day to break!
To punctuate the midnight sky
And I can hear the breezes speak
Of phantoms that I cannot spy.
Sometimes puzzling, sometimes not,
Go the shifting shadows abstruse,
But glory will augment all my thought
When the graceful muse begins to seduce!
It is she who rules the night
And all the bouncing's of my brain;
Sometimes the collisions are slight
Some, too difficult to explain,
But all the best thoughts she will make
Are disclosed to welcome the day to break!
