POETRY'S FUN FACTS
Learning about some fun facts is very educational. You learn things you didn't know, and some are mind-blowing.
I decided to stick with poetry and discover other new truths about it. I found lots that left my mouth gaping.
Like understanding that poetry is actually from a Greek term poiesis, which means "making".
Poiesis has the meaning of making art or creating something in artistic form.
It’s a little like drawing, but with writing. The words used in poetry are often written differently than in actual text, so they make for a great way to learn.
Also learning that the longest ever poem in the whole world is the Mahabharata. An Indian epic poem dating from the 4th century or earlier. The poem has about 1.8 million words.
Now that is impacting to know a poem was that insanely long. I love long poetry and love writing them long but now I realize mine doesn't compare to the Mahabharata. Now that's a really fun fact to know.
