Group thought devolves with the emoticon
In a thrice millennial backward step
Towards a hieroglyphic lexicon
Only readable by an Amenhotep
Who knew not what an alphabet might do
In the future centuries ahead
Where typewriters were all shiny and new
And pictographs were completely dead.
But like a mummy buried with a curse
For resurrecting illiteracy...
And texting making matters even worse
By arming folks with more idiocy...
Until, it seems, to escape the knave
One must embrace one's very own grave!

I was using emoticons well before the advent of texting. don't blame nokia and phones. blame the likes of msn messenger, AIM, chat rooms, ICQ, etc. those were all on a desktop computer powered by the 90s internet. a wild wild west of a place!

Aha! I stand corrected, but I cheerfully admit that I am always a day late and a dollar short when it comes to technical matters. I was thinking the whole texting thing didn't proliferate until the "Blackberry" which I thought was a Nokia thing, but I never actually owned or even used one. I get the whole portability concept but I'm not ready to abandon the full size keyboard, even though my words per minute are painfully sluggish. Shucks, I didn't have a cell phone at all until around 2010 or so. I say, do you "word process" for a living? I could use some good advice.
