Heaven's Wake

Heretic phantoms were conjured, but decried their faiths
Exhumed from death, to a nowhere, to mourn as wraiths
Alas, where they were not, was a delusional derelict see
Vaporous and ephemeral, where no gods would ever be
Epicedian recitals, almost teased, like a whispering wind
Nocturnal incantations and murmurings, but unbedinned
'twas not of the celestial though, nor from a higher place
Surreptitiously designed, beyond known time and space
Wondering mystics, evoked a hope, in an eternal thread
And led their faithful, with the mesmeric words they said
Keeping true to the righteous path, all for eternity's sake
Enduring, instead though, the misery, of Heaven's wake
