I Know This Bridge.
I know this bridge in Italy,
a place where I must go.
This bridge you may view differently,
it's name I barely know.
My Daddy said he'd take my mother,
that was before he left us 'lone.
Mom said that she wouldn't bother,
and would much rather just stay home.
For some reason, I see the lie.
My Mother is just afraid to cry....
So this bridge is a place I must see,
A place to go for my Father.
I have unspoken ties with Italy,
beating somewhere in my heart.
When I'm wise enough, and brave,
I'll gather my children to see it.
I'll take a picture for Daddy's grave,
to pretend he'll know, he'll feel it.
I know I may not be what he wanted,
but until I see it, I am haunted.
a place where I must go.

I lived in Italy for 4 years...perhaps I could help you find said bridge??? This poem reads endearing and sincere but its kind of scattered...I like it though so don't take offense! :) x x

I've got problems with parts, I admit.. Stanza 4, especially.
Ponte alle Grazie.. know it?
Ponte alle Grazie.. know it?
Yes...yes I do!
It is a bridge in Florence...I lived about three hours north in a town called Vicenza, just west of Venice and Jesolo Beach. The bridge crosses the Arno river and there are museums on each side. Florence is pretty...in most parts! Are you planning a trip?

And I know what you mean about wanting to take a picture to his grave to believe it will mean something. It DOES. I promise, I graduated from college with an AS degree (in sociology so its kind of worthless!) but I framed my degree and left it on my mother's grave. It meant something to me, it will mean something to you.

I only went to her grave once and never planned on going back...it would be funny if someone jacked my degree and pawned it off as their own! A little whiteout here and voila! I am now a scholar in the social arts! *laughs*

...It is not a worthless degree, my good man! I wanted my degree in the social arts! To work in behavioral health, thanks.(:

That was my intention but it was ruined with politics. I graduated in 2008 right as the economy really tanked. I ended up working as a bartender lol, and now I'm back in school working on my certification to become a medical coding and billing specialist. I don't think I will ever be content in any ONE thing that I do though. Change is good :)

Change is.. change. Bleck, it's okay, when it's needed. But I wanna stay at home until my kids get into school (guess I'll be house-bitch XD)then do something that would allow me to be home in time to see them, like.. hmm.. being a receptionist or perhaps part time at a library (I love books) or work from home.. dunno. Kids are more important.
