I have stared at trees,
and wondered
I have glanced at branches,
then tempered
My weight verses the wood
as expected-
Life over loss-
then exempted.
But bravery is not my suit
More repentance
Remorse for the unregrettable-
so unrelenting
Minutes of memories long lost-
I can’t recant them
But I can hold myself-
to a standard of higer lending
Or judge my words,
To not be pretending
I will walk these pages,
Still uncomprehending
And lose these days,
I fear my soul is still pending.
