The Sound of Loneliness
I show you my soul in 4/4 time
I take out my broken heart for you to see
I sing of the darkness that is the road
But does anybody ever pray for me?
I may not be alone at night
But in the morning I have to leave
I wonder if anyone cares
I wonder if anyone believes
But it’s the music that moves me
It moves me from town to town
I will always play for you
I will always sing for you
And I don’t want to bring you down
I’ve got a loaded six string
That'll really blow you away
But I just want you to hear
What it is that I have to say
When I sing about the emptiness
The tears on my face are real
I drop my eyes to the floor
So you can’t see the pain that I feel
I smile so you can’t really tell
Just what I’m going through
And I laugh so you won’t believe
That what I’m telling you is true
But it’s the music that moves me
It moves me from town to town
I will always play for you
I will always sing for you
And I don’t want to bring you down
I’ve got a loaded six string
That'll really blow you away
But I just want you to hear
What it is that I have to say
I thank you all at closing time
And tell you, “May God care for your soul”
I pack up my gear then mingle for free drinks
While another lonely night takes its toll
It’s been such a long time
Since I’ve had somebody to love
And I’m not one who’s much for praying
Because no one listens above
I take out my broken heart for you to see
I sing of the darkness that is the road
But does anybody ever pray for me?
I may not be alone at night
But in the morning I have to leave
I wonder if anyone cares
I wonder if anyone believes
But it’s the music that moves me
It moves me from town to town
I will always play for you
I will always sing for you
And I don’t want to bring you down
I’ve got a loaded six string
That'll really blow you away
But I just want you to hear
What it is that I have to say
When I sing about the emptiness
The tears on my face are real
I drop my eyes to the floor
So you can’t see the pain that I feel
I smile so you can’t really tell
Just what I’m going through
And I laugh so you won’t believe
That what I’m telling you is true
But it’s the music that moves me
It moves me from town to town
