North Star
North Star

I grew up with the stars
but nobody pointed out
the North Star to me
I still found my way out
with the luck of those
never innocent
Now I am older
and more innocent each day
in a city that has stolen the stars
I dream of getting into the mountains
for just a night
where the stars still live
Come with me
show me your North Star
so we can both stop getting so lost.

Every single time. I write these words, these poems. I love them after a few days. Every time, I think this is the one that isn't worth posting. And so, I keep posting, even if only I ever love them. Refusing to be invisible.

I have always been fascinated by what has been
called "the star of destiny"...
A star that only you can see.
A guiding force...
This makes me think of a version
of such a concept, where one is shown...
The star... And by extension... One's destiny.
This would certainly
take away one's innocence...
But then...
With self reflection and meditation,
one might return to the innocence...
As they grow in wisdom and insight,
and thereby... Once more have an opportunity...
To locate their own star of destiny...
And be guided to beautiful places.
This is such a thought provoking write, Sen.
And then it's like...
I think so many of us have had
experiences... Which caused us to lose our star of destiny.
To no longer believe.
To no longer dream.
And I just think of all of such individuals...
Returning to the innocence to light up
the sky in a constellation of beauty...
called "the star of destiny"...
A star that only you can see.
A guiding force...
This makes me think of a version

Thank you Cipher. This poem started as rather unexciting for me. But I keep looking at them, and changing lines or words, and I quite loved it at the end. I have an idea in another poem. When a child is born, a star is put in the sky that represents all they could be, and it never goes away or is diminished. I need to find that poem. It's so hard sorting through them all. A bit like your Star of Destiny. I love that. Thank you. Hugs.

And the not innocent to becoming innocent part is what I love. It started the other way around, but then I thought about my life, and you know some of that history, and it's really the other way around, in some ways. With time I'm becoming more sure of my worth and goodness. Every life should start that way, but not all do. Take care fellow poet. Hugs.
