Unpainted Wood
Falling beyond the pale
and raven-blue wings
of death's mortality
as if a stake
grayer than the shell
of unpainted wood
as if tall corn
with lips crimson
from drinking blood
as a new world begins
within the bounds of eternity
reaping the corpses
giving into the carrion
in unplowed fields
and raven-blue wings
of death's mortality
as if a stake
grayer than the shell
of unpainted wood
as if tall corn
with lips crimson
from drinking blood
as a new world begins
within the bounds of eternity
reaping the corpses
giving into the carrion
in unplowed fields
