No Small Miracle

Every cell of her,
selected and passed
through generations,
was perfected in beauty
and function. I thought
I saw her mother’s eyes.

We were present
to each other and
fully conscious.
No small miracle.

We are our most beautiful when
acting with intention to satisfy
ancient longings for life.
I imagined an unnamed choreographer
smiling from the wings at our gladness.
