WHY DO WE PUT OTHERS IN CATEGORIES?
QUESTION:
In frustration,
loneliness, and pain
in his eyes, sitting
slumped in a chair
he asked shyly,
"Why do people
place me in
categories?"
I asked him to tell
me more. He replied,
"I'm sure you're aware of
the popular practice of putting
people in categories such as:
He's black, he's white, he's brown;
he's gay, he's straight, he is bisexual,
he's a sissy, he's a real man;
he's smart, he's ignorant, he's
a liberal, he's a conservative, he's
tall, he's short; he's fat, he's skinny;
he's ugly, he's handsome, he can't get
it up, he's a sex addict, he's too old,
he's too young and the list goes on."
"WHY?
Why can't I be viewed as simply a human being?
With unique DNA qualities, desires, feelings,
needs, wants, and love like everybody else,?
I know everybody else has to face these
prejudices,
BUT why?"
I replied, "A lack of real love."
Am I right?
