A Swan Call
I will awake to greet your dawn
To thank you for your many ways
For men are vain and work is strife
But you are giver of all life
You are giver of all days
Who can know you or your son?
Whom to him has been revealed?
By your song you quell the nations
By your hand they fade away
By your love this great elation
Grants the world a brighter day
We have seen the wrath in waiting
We have heard the cries of youth
We have felt the mind sedating
We have touched the tribes of truth
Who can know what you are planning?
Who can know the mind of He--
Who by His word created mountains
And the flower and the sea
By His great and mighty power
By His straightened perfect Way
He can make a day an hour
Or stretch and hour to a day
O, man--arise from your slumber!
To thank you for your many ways
For men are vain and work is strife
But you are giver of all life
You are giver of all days
Who can know you or your son?
Whom to him has been revealed?
By your song you quell the nations
By your hand they fade away
By your love this great elation
Grants the world a brighter day
We have seen the wrath in waiting
We have heard the cries of youth
We have felt the mind sedating
We have touched the tribes of truth
Who can know what you are planning?
Who can know the mind of He--
Who by His word created mountains
And the flower and the sea
By His great and mighty power
By His straightened perfect Way
He can make a day an hour
Or stretch and hour to a day
O, man--arise from your slumber!
