Maria's Life In Sixty...
I
Reading of her will.
Short, exact, to the point.
Some kitchen utensils
frozen chicken
pack of spaghetti
tomato paste can...
II
Rain.
Wet.
Enters bar.
Hit and miss regular
asks
what would her legacy be.
Perplexed, befuddled "Huh?"
escapes her lips...
III
Birth in hospital.
Mother pushes and screams...
Out she comes
bloody,
wondering what for?
Doctor cuts umbilical cord.
She sighs...

Darkly humorous and yet this poem is now, at least for a few moments, my religion.
Stanza 1: The last meal in the last will and testament. The Holy Utensil Trinity of knife, fork, and spoon.
Stanza 2: “Huh?men is now the replacement for Amen in all prayers.
Stanza 3: The creation SCREAM and the great SIGH in the face of life’s bloody insistence on persistence signify readiness for communion.
