How Did The Fire Start?
How did the fire start? Someone asked
That's simple, I just looked in her eyes
A pleasant surprise I remember thinking
No sign of cheating, deciept or lies
Then my barn quickly caught fire
Locked in there was my bleeding heart
No amount of hay can dampen this fire
Which burns fiercer than it did from the start.
It's fuelled with determination
And a longing to keep me warm
Eyes that are easy to fall deep into
Like those of a baby newly born.
And yet confidently as they gaze around
Taking in all that they can see
Learning with every blink that they take
And they sparkle as they look towards me...
The fire burning strong within me
Is a flame that surely won't fade
Every time my eyes are blessed with your smile
Is time to call the fire brigade...
Even though they might extinguish my fire
They'll never extinguish the pilot light
That burns quietly in the back ground
Every day and every night...
So that's how the fire started,
Just by simply catching her eye
Now it burns like an erupting volcano
Lighting up the blue midnight sky...
That's simple, I just looked in her eyes
A pleasant surprise I remember thinking
No sign of cheating, deciept or lies
Then my barn quickly caught fire
Locked in there was my bleeding heart
No amount of hay can dampen this fire
Which burns fiercer than it did from the start.
It's fuelled with determination
And a longing to keep me warm
Eyes that are easy to fall deep into
Like those of a baby newly born.
And yet confidently as they gaze around
Taking in all that they can see
Learning with every blink that they take
And they sparkle as they look towards me...
The fire burning strong within me
Is a flame that surely won't fade
Every time my eyes are blessed with your smile
Is time to call the fire brigade...
Even though they might extinguish my fire

So that's how the fire started,

Lighting up the blue midnight sky...
