Silence Is My Friend
Yesterday is a mirror,
Reflecting back choices made
and the stories that follow,
etched in stone forever…
Or until the swirling sands of time
Erode the record of my deeds
into barely-discernible ‘glyphs
Will I then simply disappear?
In vain I struggle to grasp
the essence, the significance
of each passing breeze
of thought, word, action
And sense the disquieting truth
that Life holds no intrinsic meaning
beyond that created within the depths
of my own imagination
Silence is my friend
As it grows, confusion recedes,
In the end leaving only the: Now
Silence is my friend
So let the sands erase my memory
I was an illusion from the beginning
When emptiness stands before a broken mirror,
What is reflected?
Reflecting back choices made
and the stories that follow,
etched in stone forever…
Or until the swirling sands of time
Erode the record of my deeds
into barely-discernible ‘glyphs
Will I then simply disappear?
In vain I struggle to grasp
the essence, the significance
of each passing breeze
of thought, word, action
And sense the disquieting truth
that Life holds no intrinsic meaning
beyond that created within the depths
of my own imagination
Silence is my friend
As it grows, confusion recedes,
In the end leaving only the: Now
Silence is my friend
So let the sands erase my memory
I was an illusion from the beginning
When emptiness stands before a broken mirror,
What is reflected?
