So I swallow
So I swallow
Sometimes when I wake in the morn
Aroused from dreams of you
Cold sweat will smother my forehead
A pill I'll swallow then a few
Not the ones that leave your mouth dry
But the ones named pride and fear
The ones that want to stand between us
The ones that hate my dear
When I wake I want to run
Into your reassuring arms
Pride will take and try to ruin
But I will not let it ruin what is ours
So I swallow
Next comes fear knocking on the door
The door that leads to my open heart
I shut it out I want it out
You've given it no reason to linger
So I swallow
As you embrace me tight I know I was right
Not to fear your leave
Diminish the pride That I will try to hide
Not let pride invade
So I swallow
Sometimes when I wake in the morn
Aroused from dreams of you
Cold sweat will smother my forehead
A pill I'll swallow then a few
Not the ones that leave your mouth dry
But the ones named pride and fear
The ones that want to stand between us
The ones that hate my dear
When I wake I want to run
Into your reassuring arms
Pride will take and try to ruin
But I will not let it ruin what is ours
So I swallow
Next comes fear knocking on the door
The door that leads to my open heart
I shut it out I want it out
You've given it no reason to linger
So I swallow
As you embrace me tight I know I was right
Not to fear your leave
Diminish the pride That I will try to hide
Not let pride invade
So I swallow
