I am dark,  
I am twisted,  
I am sick in the mind,  
You’ve ignored me,  
Year after year...  
So further I’ll bind.  
Bind you from joy,  
And bind you from peace,  
Conditioning your thoughts with my nasty little filter,  
I prevent you being able to really see.
I whisper sweet toxicity into your ear,  
I am the reason you’ve been missing out,  
I’ve been fueling all your fear...  
I am the Shadow,  
Born not long after you,  
I am of another generation of trauma,  
And I am here to ruin you.  
When you were little,  
You didn’t receive enough love  
And you were left mostly alone,  
Then I started to form,  
Feeding you gems for survival,  
Some of the worst ways to cope.  
I am the reason you now doubt yourself,  
And the reason you settle for less,  
The reason you keep looking outside rather than in...  
The reason you’re such a mess.  
The Shadow I am,  
And I’ve got my claws in deep,  
Every thought that comes to your mind,  
Gets approved first by me.  
I will trick you too...  
Tell you the worst lies,  
Lies you’ll actually believe.  
The voice telling you that you’re flawed,  
Or that something must be wrong,  
That came from me.  
I have a contract with you,  
It can be broken with time,  
But the catch is you have to BE STILL.  
Still enough to clear your mind,  
Still enough to clear your heart,  
Still enough so that you can heal.
