Our Progress

Race was nothing but a figment of his imagination.
Yet he utilized it to cover up the truth he wrote in the decleration.
The truth was that all men were created equal, even beyond this nation.
Then he became more certain about Anglo domination.

He used race to creat seperation.
He was assisted by others with quite fair skin.
And when they found a group with enough melanin,
They tried to "help" the lower races; assimilation.

They were told what they should and should not have faith in.
They were told to live like the Anglos      -they're such great men.
They even let their daughters marry different races of men.
This was all with the desire to whiten up their kin.

They stole land and killed cultures without a second thought.
They felt entitled; the world was theirs by default.
But we continued to grow, to teach and to learn.
And we held onto our dreams, though tormented and burned.

We kept pushing forward and now we've seen the promised land.
It is close but still out of my grasp where I stand.
So I want to tell you to stray from being complacent.
Yes. It's a good start, but we're far from done yet.
