in the ancient coffee forests
of the Ethiopian plateau
where a goat herder named Kaldi
first found that the bean was more
than something to be picked
by children for fun.
And she was one of those kids
who gathered magic beans for play
only to learn that marriage
was much more
than a basket full of pretty seeds.
