And where shall I go my shadow friend?
Where shall I find that quiet place to be
alone without you by my side?

My soul cries out for isolation from all outside
influence and distraction. From you,
my shadow, who knows my slightest tell.

A shadow knows all, sees all and mirrors
your every move. Your shadow is the keeper
of your secrets and tracker of all movement’s.

I want to contemplate love desired and
love lost. I need to imagine without sharing.
I need to want without guilt or worry.

Can I hate my enemy in private, can I plot his
demise without you seeing my distain? Having
anyone else knowing ruins the revenge.

Can I envy my neighbors goods or his wife?
Will my desires become known if you are
by my side. Will you share my private thoughts?

You are silent but will you reman that way?
Will I ever be truly alone. Am I doomed to see
you at every turn?

Trust is the key in any relationship. Proximity
determines the degree of intimacy. Nothing is
closer to me than you. Can I trust you?
