Dream in Darkness

Hush now, soul of mine,
And learn stillness here,
Inhale the deep cold,
Learn what hurts it may numb.

Listen to the echo of empty chambers,
Within once hallowed halls,
Made now hollow and chill,
Where tapestries removed have left gray.

Here, restless self, come and be,
Without breath, or want or need,
Quiet until a part of silence,
Beyond reach of that which mortals seek.

This darkness will know you,
It will teach you and it will guide you,
It will heal you and it will cleanse you,
You will again be whole, and changed.

Take your repast here,
Fear not what calls where eyes cannot see,
What cannot be seen is not meant for you,
You have all you need.

Close your precious eyes now and rest,
It has been hard won and well deserved,
See your shivering has subsided and you at last are ready,
There, that is as it should be, peace at last.

Heal, here, in this place of gloaming,
In the lost and the forgotten,
Where no one comes looking,
And you are safe.

And I will stand watch over you this long sleep,
And long you shall sleep, indeed,
Breathe deep the darkness lass,
Breathe deep and may you dream not again.
