Sleep Becomes
Sleep becomes the substitute
for encounters that are more true
when linkage fades from memory
no longer part of waking dreams.
if the waking is reality
instead of slumber as therapy
the mind would stay on placid themes
instead of embracing the randy
forgive adherents of that realm
as bawdy thoughts overwhelm
the subconscious will permit
a glimpse at contact surely missed
in due time life will resume
to share cold bonds as rescue
now dreams are required to compensate
for connections found to fade.

We go asleep to dream and we wake up to this freaking nightmare. Great poem. Keep on writing.
