Time Zones

Ten thousand miles away and on her face
The dawn is yet to bloom.
Outside the stormwinds rage
And body tired she stumbled to her room.

There she tossed and turned and failed to sleep
And hourly I called from the antipodean heat
To see if words might hold her safe
Until my arms could make us both complete.

I see her now: that face upon the pillow
That I know I would only stir
And bring to restless waking with kiss
If I could break my bondage and be there.

Rest on, sleep sweet: soon in a slivered moment
Bone-weary slumber I will break
And you will know, though half the earth should part us,
My love will never sleep, for your love’s sake.
