The echo of a shadow
Drums across the canyon
Beneath a redtail’s flight
Disappearing through cuts and cracks
Shortly to return piercing contrast
To colors coated on the canyon’s face
Until nightfall, when the shadow sleeps
With a lullaby echoing in its head
