My skin

Why should I have to apologize for the Melanin in my skin?
Whether you like it or not, this is the shade I was born in,
From the thick kinks on my crown,
To the curvy bulge of my hips
This is the frame I was formed in.
Does my juicy pink lips offend you?
So what, if you don't like me,
So what, if you can’t stand to see
The giggling of my butt in my leopard leggings
No wait, squash that stereotyping.....
Correction, my black leggings.
Why that dirty look my dear
When I sway to the rhythm of Conscious tunes.
Ha, when they told me I'm trying too hard to be black
Just because i made my bubble gum balloon pop
Not my fault I'm beautiful,
Not my fault I'm the color of chocolate,
Not my fault my body is well defined,
Not my fault I'm as strong as I am.
It’s no fault I'm me,
I'm Melanin baby!
