Becoming the Night
Go to bed, rest
On satin sheets and pillow cases
I am a shadow
Sneaking on sidewalks
And snapping pine sticks
Becoming the night
Shifting into darkness
Home at last, when your window I pass
And watch your dreams dance above you
I can see you, you are blind
I am stronger than your mind
Becoming the night
Shaped by lampposts
And cloudy moonlight
Run, I am alive
Becoming the night
You caught me, you broke me
I was failure in your eyes
When you saw me cry myself away
Under the sunny blue sky
I wasn’t ready
The time wasn’t right
But oh, when the stars shone bright
I vanished with your bite
Now you’re dying on a mattress
Screaming in my night
On satin sheets and pillow cases
I am a shadow
Sneaking on sidewalks
And snapping pine sticks
Becoming the night
Shifting into darkness
Home at last, when your window I pass
And watch your dreams dance above you
I can see you, you are blind
I am stronger than your mind
Becoming the night
Shaped by lampposts
And cloudy moonlight
Run, I am alive
Becoming the night
You caught me, you broke me
I was failure in your eyes
When you saw me cry myself away
Under the sunny blue sky
I wasn’t ready
The time wasn’t right
But oh, when the stars shone bright
I vanished with your bite
Now you’re dying on a mattress
Screaming in my night
