The orchard

In the begining god did plant
An orchard but of one
it sprung from ground with twig and branch
He looked on with grace
And said and now its done

So blessed a sapling fast it grew
Of buds profuse abound
The limbs entwined as the sun shone down
And all of natures paradise was new
 There was Eden all around

 One tree spawn all forest
Wood to conceal all seeds that fall
Adam and the Eve the flesh and blood
A fig leaf because he was modest
Its spread to cover all

Springs blossom how they pretty
Bees cluster round to do their work
Neath canopy they carved some treachery
And whisper that conspiracy
That arboretum if only it could talk

To do the serpents dirty deed
To pick with hands as he could not
A glance perhaps just one would not be missed
Just hanging there between the leaves
The orchard its windfalls of deceit

Hang down and fall within your easy reach
