I am here
Rain keeps falling from the tall, dark sky.
Sorry puddles grow larger, my blackened heart.
Water soaking through my flimsy keds, numbing.
Recall of whiskey soothes the soul,
empty grimace suspended on the face.
The wind blows and whispers, "Alive..."
Shaking off the shivers, I look upward,
look at some stars,
shining through the corpses of the clouds.
Meantime, man is prowling in the background
Inside warm shelters of his skyscrapers.
Padded walls,
rooms illuminated by azure television lights.
In his little capsule world, he knows little...
People pass by but I'm alone.
I care not for the future or the bitter past.
And I notice,
Were all doing the same thing...
