Mirror
I looked in the mirror
tossing and turning in the night .
You talked back to me
with cracked glass
and nightmares that I’ll remember
when I wake up.
I close my eyes.
Imperfection, I see.
Who else can spot
the skeletons in my closet
and dirty smudges on my glass
but you?
I look to you, through you
and stare at the lies we tell.
But hope that one day
I’ll see what I am
instead of who I hope to be.
