Cutting Ties

Sometimes we must cut ties & open our eyes
Realizing it's time for some to end their rides
When tides get rough and we've had enough
Gotta know when to let go although it'll be tough

The stuff people do when they think you're a fool
Causes heartache and pain and they think it's cool
Only you can choose the actions you'll tolerate
They made their bed so let them suffer their fate

People make mistakes but when they're intentional
Make it known that your respect is nonnegotiable
Stop the emotional roller coasters that you're on
Even with those you've known since you were born

You'll be torn about what decision is the best
Life's ups & downs puts us through some tests
The rest may not understand the journey of a man
At some point we must get off our knees & stand
