Too in tune with your movements
Used them to prove to myself we could do this
You said your dude that abused you was moving
I heard “come and prove to me you’re an improvement”

I let the first night, that felt right, blow my ego
Now it feels right, any time, or place we go
Didn’t think twice, it was like, scoring free throws
Easy as you like, didn’t try, you and I, there was life

But at times, I was too much to handle
planned all the dates, all the places we can go
Treated you like mine, put you up, on my mantel
Thought I was your spark, in the dark, light your candle

I put too much pressure on us spending time together
And I never really thought about how that was like a tether
If you’re better off without me then I beg you keep your head up
Cause all I ever wanted was for us to brave the weather

Maybe we could be friends, maybe just acquainted
But that won’t match the picture in my mind that you have painted

I tried to be a humble, but a stronger minded character
That charismatic battler that had your back and carried ya
That grappled any challenge, never backing down or packing up
But I got too attached and crack and fractured what we had with us
