A Truffular Elegy
Alas, my champagne truffle was stolen
and popped into his fat, greedy mouth;
He slobbered and chewed it all over
And from there it only went south.
He swallowed my delight with sick pleasure
Whilst gazing smugly at me;
Licked his lips ever-so-slowly and said:
'I didn't realize how good chocolate could be!'
Sniffling, I recalled the confection,
how perfectly blended it seemed,
How delicately coated and how I felt so devoted
To being its destiny.
Its edges were softly rounded,
Its fragrance inviting and sweet;
It was imperfectly shaped, but that was no mistake,
Because it was still the perfect treat.
Thank goodness I still have another,
Its sister or brother, a twin;
I will relish it soon, likely before noon,
And indulge with a satisfied grin.
In memory of the one that was taken,
I shall savor every nibble and bite;
I will never forget this kidnapping event,
And in truffles shall always delight!
