perfect clarity
escape confinement, slip away into a
late, mild, cloudless night
winding streets of expansive city
neon lights guide the way
there's something in the distance
just after this twist of stone
fingers glide through space
grasping for the unknown
air is becoming clearer
the stone falls away
gliding now, the streets disappear
replaced with pure earth
what was once never-ending corporation
is now never-ending stars
and the full moon.
all of it glowing over a limitless
meadow of love and loyalty
skipping now, bursting with joy
whirling in a place where
troubles blow away on the breeze.
all that matters is all of you
here with me.
for my dearest friends, and my family; meet me in the meadow.
inspired by "Sure on This Shining Night" by James Agee, a poem arranged in song, and with eyes closed being encompassed by pure sound at All-State 2008.

the inspirational moment for this poem was absolutely amazing, i was in a room with about a hundred other singers, and we sang this piece that we'd memorized as quietly as we could...and this scene just played across my mind, i couldn't have asked for anything better to write about
