Definition
Gupta’s Gear is not a restaurant, a store, or really anything, but is nonetheless an icon within sight of Everest.
It is one of my favorite places and I wish I were an icon of any kind.
Ira Hayes was a Pima Native American who helped raise the flag on Iwo Jima during WWII.
I am certainly no hero, just an average Joe, but I’m trying to live a great story in my own way.

We are all shooting stars, but some of us break apart before we burn out
Chula Vista means Beautiful View. Chula is a rather archaic term with the same meaning as “linda”.
I am forever in search of the beautiful view to photograph and savor and smile.
Villa Rica means City of Gold or Riches.
Gold and riches never satisfy, yet everyone chases the dollar believing the lie that money can buy happiness.
A hobo nickel is a sculptural art form involving bas reliefs, the creative modification of small-denomination coins.
All I have in my pocket is lint. I started out with nothing and I still have most of it.
Diamantina is Brazilian for diamond.
I have many facets, but not all of them shine, I am but a flawed stone.
Death always involves a little lying, sometimes the noble thing to do is pretend.
Do we fear death or is it more the fear of the unknown it brings? We should have lived better.
The speed of sound is the distance traveled per unit time by a sound wave propagating through an elastic medium. In dry air at 68 °F, the speed of sound travels a mile in 4.689 seconds. Faster than the speed of sound is called supersonic.
When I fell in love with you did I make a sonic boom or was it a slow spiral and tumble like a bird falling from the sky, spent, exhausted with no life left in them, yet eyes still opened?
What is the definition of life, of love, of truth, of you, and of me?
There is reality and there is your perspective of it. I am sure from your perspective it must be true. However, we don’t always see things the same way and there in lies the rub.
Knowledge will only get you so far.
Wisdom is in Peace, Love, Compromise, Share.
That is the gift and the definition.

Thank you. I try to be "all over the map" using different styles and "voices" so all of my poems don't sound the same as it were.

Random really. I have note books & word documents on my laptop of words, phrases, ideas, pieces of conversations I've heard, etc. I keep hoping to one day to weave them into a poem. I used some Wikipedia definitions of some of the things in this poem (Villa Rica & Chula Vista are towns in my state). I put my own thoughts in between the facts or definitions and arrived at a philosophical ending. Simple as that. Sometimes it is hit or miss trying to get the stuff I've collected to flow and not feel forced. This poem is the only one I've written is this particular style I think. Hope that helps. Thanks so much. I've been writing poetry for about 6 years now & still feel like I don't really know what I'm doing, but I certainly enjoy doing it. It is all just for fun & self-gratification, if anyone else likes my poems, well then that's just a bonus.
