Apology

It all began with a recreational event.
A time where we all should have spent more time together.
A time where I had my head up in the clouds.
A time that created a monster.
It took a year to finally unleash.
I should have realized it was only a matter of time.
Names were said.
Tears were shed.
Then we seemed to discover a part that wasn’t there.
We agreed to make it work.
We planned to put it all back together, like the team we had been throughout those four years.
But in reality, it was too late.
For, I had hurt all of you far too much.
For the longest of time, I was hostile.
I felt as if you were making a fool out of me when I was trying to put the pieces back together.
No matter how hard I tried, it wouldn’t be enough.
So, names were thrown back.
Every time I even thought of you, I would shake with rage.
But now, I would like to take the time out to say I am truly sorry.
The motives behind your actions did not sink in until just now.
Also, life is too short to stomach such contempt.
And in all honesty, a huge part of me still holds animosity.
A part of me does wish you would stop playing the victim.
And you’ll have to do your part as well, if you want to end the war.
But with all that said aside, this is what I want to say.
I’m not expecting anything to be the same.
Nor am I requesting to be close again.
I am asking that we break down this wall that has been separating us.
I am asking that we see eye to eye on this whole misunderstanding.
I am asking that we shake hands and then we can move on with our own lives again.
If you’re willing to give it a try, don’t be afraid to stop by.
I’ll tell you the truth.
I expect it back.
I don’t wish for this to be a time to relive painful memories and an unfortunate outcome.
All I wish for is to forgive and move on.
