It's been tainted and painted with a different hue
Whitewashed to reduce remnants of people like you
The truth has been subdued inside sarcophaguses
Hieroglyphically written on the walls of the pyramids
Hid in plain sight and edited in the books they write
Knowledge of self on your shelf brings them fright
For it might inspire the rise of your consciousness
Miseducation equations equate ignorance as being bliss
Prescribed with a kiss of death if you teach anything else
Chastised, like a disobedient child, with nation wide belts
If you knelt, in silent protest, they'll chop off your neck
Disregarding the harm for a cloth they say you disrespect
Failing to inspect the origin of a poem they created into a song
Preferring that you just catch and fetch when they say go long
As they prolong the suffering of every black child, woman and man
Asking you to stand to celebrate the demise of Africans
